(Moroccan Inspired Resort)
Where to Stay in Khanom?
I found our resort in Khanom online, the place is called Khanom Maroc Resort and Spa. It is a Moroccan inspired architecture with colorful interior and exterior design surrounded by a nice river at the back, and lush green natural landscapes.

We booked our $30/night room online including breakfast where you can choose from Asian, Continental, and American Breakfast (which of course, the last one was our obvious choice). The restaurant offers other food varieties you can choose from, Thai to Western dishes. It’s open from 7am until 10pm. The room given to us was really clean air-conditioned room with flat screen cable TV, fridge, and Free Wifi. The resort also has a scaffolding balcony that you can climb up to see the beauty of their natural landscapes (you can judge it from the photos).

What is it popular for?
The resort is also popular with pre-nuptial photoshoots. During our short stay there, I have witnessed 3 big groups of camera men, videographers, make up artists and wedding couples taking their pre-nuptial photoshoots around the Moroccan inspired resort. It’s fun seeing them on their unique choices of wedding dress (I mean, the brides! 😀 ).
One more thing, I know you would like to know that even though the resort doesn’t have a swimming pool of itself (except for that fish pond at the garden), it is associated with the luxurious Racha Kiri Resort & Spa (where we spent our New Year’s Eve) just down the street that tenants of Khanom Maroc Resort & Spa can use as told by one of the staff, since the owner of both resorts is the same. Well, I figured that the owner of both resorts are the same from the business card Sumalee gave me

Explore Khanom On a Motorbike
Khanom Maroc Resort & Spa is just few minutes away (even walking distance) to the beach. If you would like to explore the town, you can also rent a motorbike from them at 250THB/day (not including gas). It’s worth renting a bike because there are a lot of natural places to go to and things to do in Khanom.
Everyday, during our 8-day stay, they have provided us good service, awesome smiles from the friendly and helpful staff. Not to mention the lovely owner, Ms. Sumalee, who is truly amazing. I couldn’t describe how wonderful she is. Her kindness was extended to us not just from the little gifts we receive from her everyday while were there, but the biggest deal she gave us was when Chris and I had a motorbike accident going to a restaurant nearby. Chris broke his right shoulder and got several wounds on his legs. I had few scratches on my legs and sprained my ankle, but Chris suddenly shuts down unconscious. When I asked the restaurant people to help us call our resort for help, the restaurant staff and owner were helpful enough to do it for us and gave us their first aid kit to clean up Chris’ wounds.

We Couldn’t Thank You Enough, Sumalee!
Ms. Sumalee responded immediately, seeing Chris’ unconscious state sitting at the restaurant she called the hospital asking for ambulance. I don’t want to bore you with our accident story but she was so great to help us get to the hospital, translate everything to the medical staff, and when I decided to bring him to another hospital with private room (as they want to observe Chris’ condition) which is at the town next to Khanom named Sichon, she was all so helpful to arrange everything for us. If you are wondering, she wasn’t just nice to us but with every guests there too. She personally chauffeured with her own truck the British couple to the bus station going to Bangkok with me when she offered to take me to the resort and drop me off at the hospital again to get us changing clothes and toiletries for the hospital stay. Sumalee even visited us and checked us in the room after we were back from Sichon hospital (plus she managed to call us at Sichon Hospital through the nurse’s station to ask how we were because she didn’t get any of our mobile numbers. Amazing, isn’t she?).
By the time we were about to head home to Patthalung (2 days later after the accident), she helped us out to get a taxi to bring us back there. They are truly exceptional! Thanks Sumalee for all the help and we will be back there again one day! I know your good deeds will be returned a hundredfold.
