I am just browsing my Facebook right now and saw a friend’s wall post about a video with the title “Sh*t Brides Say”, curious enough I watched the video and it was freakin’ funny! It’s true though, from the movies, girlfriends, acquaintances that somehow I get to crossed paths with before their wedding day have said at least one from what they have mentioned in the video.

I think it’s because of the excitement, the adrenaline rush of living like a princess for a day. I don’t know, I don’t get it (well, maybe because I haven’t been engaged), I don’t get all the extravagant preparations for a marriage. I always dreamed of getting married one day too, walking in the isle with a long white wedding dress staring at my prince waiting for me at the altar kind of crap! That’s what I get watching fairytales as a kid, but then growing up and going in and out of relationships (whether it be platonic or not), it does not have a happy ending like the fairytales suggest. I know there are happy endings but its not like a glorified ones like that of fairytale scene which most people think their wedding is the closest to that reality.

Oops sorry I’m rambling about wedding and marriage like I know something from it. What I’m saying is that, what matters most is what you feel and not what you make other want to feel seeing you in that expensive gown and eating your best catered food. It’s just another day for them, but for you two who will get married, that is a big change in your life.

Okay, so I will try to understand how excited brides can be when they got engaged. If I will be engaged with someone I love the most then I would be really happy, I wouldn’t care if how, when, or where we will get married (I’m not even sure what would I feel at that moment, there’s no guarantee yeah?) and I wanted a clothing will be tailored to fit me and me trying to fit into that clothing. See, that happens when they spend too much on something not worth spending at. Anyways, I just don’t get it that’s why I find this video hilarious.

I owe my friend, Mishale, for not showing up at the last Philippine Fashion Week event held at the SMX Convention Center. I could have shared wonderful photos from the event, but anyway, there’s always next time right? (Although Mishale would not want to set it up for me anymore).

What I didn’t know is that Philippine Fashion Week has its own TV production now handled by Runway Productions which is on its Season 4 now.  Yes, on its 4th season and I did not know until I got an email from them promoting the season! Sheez!  Oh well, what can I do,  I’m quite busy with my travel blog   lately and of course, juggling work and travel.

I am impressed how the Philippine Fashion Week has evolved, I didn’t expect they would go this far but I’m proud of where they are and what they have done.  It’s like the talents can compete Internationally but its locally produced.  I should not be surprised, because Filipino talents are truly world class, why not? There’s Monique Lhuillier, Rafe Totengco, Michael Cinco, Donny Barrios, and a lot more talents that are making names in the industry.

As for the awesome runway show of all time, fashion week will always be cherished by the metro’s fashionistas and for that, I know the Philippine Fashion Week will be bigger than it is now.  Keep it up fashionistas behind the success of Philippine Fashion Week! Kudos to all your efforts, it’s bearing fruits, no worries!  Catch them every Sunday, 6:30PM at Lifestyle Network!

It was not really a concern for me losing weight before, because I know I can easily gain weight if I want to easily!  I say easy because of unlimited access to food whenever we have a catering function.  I don’t want to gain weight nor lose weight, I am not so conscious with weight issues so I don’t pay much attention to that until my trip is over.

Everyone says I need to eat more and that a wellness program attendant that approached me at the mall one time I was there for some groceries asked if I’m interested to join their program, and since it’s free I did it.  The results says I am underweight.  I didn’t care because I know I lost weight from travelling.  Yet, my medical results applying for a job says I am 10 kilos underweight! What?! I thought.

I know I lost 5 kilos from the trip, but I didn’t know I am that underweight  (10 kilos) for my ideal weight.  I was advised to eat more and now I know I have to eat more seeing a recent photo of me from my friend’s album on Facebook!

Why Do We Lose Weight When Backpacking?

Why do we lose weight when backpacking?  Well, there are several reasons why we do, and here are they…

• Being Active. Travelling means adventure to me now, it was not just an ordinary convenient packaged trip.  Backpacking is an active way of living for how long the traveler can backpack which means doing some cool activities like surfing, rock climbing, trekking, swimming, diving, kayaking, spelunking, and the list will go on and on.  Doing all these means exerting more effort and using more energy than you usually do and being in an unfamiliar place makes you more cautious of what you eat for your own safety.
• Food Cautious. It is normal to be cautious with whatever we eat specially if we are in an unfamiliar place.  To make sure if food is clean or not, and even if it is, sometimes gut problems happen because one is not used to the way the food was prepared or simply the body can’t just adapt as quick as it can in one click. Sometimes it is because of the travelling itself, like I have to refrain from drinking liquids while in transit to avoid hassles of having to pee while on a public bus for a 14hour border crossing or eat from the food stop overs to avoid gut revolution on a long trip! (it wasn’t cool believe me, I have experienced that!).
• Budget. Sometimes backpackers stick to their budget and get the cheapest food to get by in some period of time until they found a budget refiller like part time jobs at the places they are travelling in.

Given the information above, it is at the equation of;

EFFORT > FOOD INTAKE = LOSE WEIGHT

Backpacking is a whole adventure itself, one would never miss an opportunity to try awesome things the nature has to offer.  Being active and less body fuel means losing weight.  Although, I met people on the way that gained weight while travelling.  Still, most common is losing weight than gaining weight.  Perhaps that is a good advice to people that want to lose weight, go backpacking!

Weddings are mostly women’s dream just how when we were kids dreamt of being a princess that found her prince charming to live with happily ever after.  In a way, the debut parties (Sweet 16 or 18th Birthday)are the ones during the younger years and Weddings for mature women (well, not necessarily old…lol).  I don’t know how it started but I admit I am one of them.

I don’t know why most couples chose June for their Wedding. Well, my theory is that in most Western Countries, June has the best climate and weather. Which is mostly should be considered to have a Perfect Wedding…Perfect Weather!

From where I was born, Philippines, even if June is not a very good season to wed, statistics still shows that June is the one of the month with the highest Wedding celebration, next to December and February. Considering, June is a rainy season, it’s colder…hmmm…I think cooler climates are considered for Wedding, what do you think? lol…
