Is Larry Alcala Going SOLO?

Larry Alcala is one of the well known editorial cartoonist in the Philippines who have exhibited his works in different countries as well.  Received several awards and achievements from his cartoon talents.

Filipinos that know Larry Alcala are probably wondering what is his name got to do soloing in fashion? Well, he’s not really soloing but Mr. Alcala is now collaborating with SOLO, a fashion company, to launch his cartoons on their clothes to produce a unique fashion collection in which his cartoons will be the primary design of the clothing line.  Isn’t it cool?

You can tell just from the displayed Larry Alcala’s Fashion Clothing Line.  He is now a fashionista!  Who would have thought that a cartoonist like Larry Alcala, can launch his own line and become a cool fashionista?

Ms. Universe ‘Rains’ Controversy

Certainly the Ms. Universe pageant has been having a great controversial reviews lately.  From the nude body paint controversy to the seemingly Ms. Perfect Philippines during the question and answer portion.

Ms. Philippines, Venus Raj, has landed her spot as one of  the Top 5 finalist at the Ms. Universe Pageant.  People all over the world are expect her to win a crown whatever the place is, so everyone’s eyes are on her at the question and answer moment.

Back here at her home country Philippines, her “Major, major” dialogue has become a part of everyone’s sentences.  I, on the other hand analizing her answer, thought too that she seemed perfect for her answer.  However, from the video above she is not alone.  Let alone the pressure that all eyes are on you.

Ms. Philippines Overshadowed Ms. Mexico

Looking at the bright side, she has won 5th against the other contestants.  She is just 22 years old and under pressure.  Plus the fact that, did you noticed that the reigning Ms. Universe- Ms. Mexico was over shadowed by her fame for that matter?!  I reckon for that, she is more than a winner .Well, I guess she deserve the stage better hey!  I’m still proud of Ms. Philippines.

Are you confused with what is that positive feeling you feel with someone?  Or shall we say, do you want to know if you’re in love?  Yeah? Are You In Love? Oh, I’m an expert on this! lol  I myself, found me pondering ’bout this question.

Well, I can’t blame you if you don’t want to assume too much.  Previous relationships may have caused us too much heartaches that we thought we can’t survive.  So, finding something or someone will keep us asking question as the above mentioned.

Why do women change their looks?  Often, we see our girlfriends change their looks by having a new hair cut, haircolor,  or new hairdo.  Sometimes the way they dress and the way they are.  What’s the reason behind it?  There are several reasons why women does it, although it should not be generalized.

Mostly, does it to improve self esteem. Admit it or not, people judge by the way people look.  Looking for a job alone, you are to be judge from the moment you walk in the building, it is the impression that they look for.  What can you give according to your personality.  Yes, having to get yourself presented in a cool and presentable way, you’ll get your self-esteem back.

There are also people does it to follow trends. Trendy and fashionable fashionistas don’t want to be behind all the latest make-up, fashion, or beauty rituals and stuff.  They even make sure to be up to date or even futuristic on what will be the trend next season.  Runways show off their pieces that will be on their fashion store rack for the next year.  Yes, they show it as early as a year a head, marketing hey?! Yes, it is.

Feel better. Sometimes, women change their looks to forget the old self, not entirely but especially when they’ve been through some hard emotional battle.  Seeing yourself bad on the mirror is depressing as well, so when you look good, different, you feel better for yourself when you see yourself shining in front of the mirror.

There you have three reasons why women change for a new look.  In my opinion, if the intention of changing looks is for the best and genuine reasons then go on!  Why suffer and depress yourself when you can help yourself cheer up by simply changing looks?

Watching the SALT thriller is already intriguing by itself, so when I heard it is already showing I was going crazy to watch it.  Unfortunately,  I have not seen it until now, yeah I know, I’m sorry Ate [pronunciation: Ah-teh](Pinoy Courtesy call for elder women) Marmee! lol

Oh well, who’s Marmee you might ask?  She’s my cousin who plays extra in the Angelina Jolie’s SALT Movie.  Her name is Marmee C. Cosico, she starred at different TV series with different roles.

Talking about SALT,  it is quite a very mind boggling movie, makes you think what will happen next.  This kind of story happens in real life, I reckon.  So, it’s a very interesting movie over all (I’m basing with the thriller).

The ever popular beauty pageant Ms. Universe.  World renowned beauty competition have received a very huge attention from the public due to the pageant contestants topless body paint photos!

The debate that they should be a role model and posing topless like this connotes different views.  Well, we’re living in the modern world and everyone in the public industry poses nude…well, almost…Miss USA, Rima Fakih, and Miss Trinidad and Tobago, LaToya Woods, were ones of the brave women to do this pose.  What do you think?

After almost two years since this fashion blog was created,  I have written so much about fashion that even the latest trends is just like a song that keeps reviving.  Therefore, it is like talking the same thing over and over again in a different way.

I’ve written ton about beauty, shopping, and fashion tips that I reckon almost about anything you wanna know about fashion, about looking great, and stuff.  As a fashion blogger, it is fun writing about what you want to wear and what is the trend that you wanna share people to wear.  Fashion is an art, it makes the world more colorful than it should be.

This blog is my legacy, a friend taught me how to do it.  How I made it was my own but I’m truly thankful learning how to do blogging, I’ve learned a lot.  I may not blog regularly as I was, but I will be blogging everytime there’s gonna be an interesting topic I want to share related to the niche.  This is not goodbye, but rather an explanation why it is not as active as it was.

Sando Trend and High Waist

Anyone noticed how cool is the sando trend?  Sleeveless it is, very comfortable and easy to match with.  We were just used to wearing them as underwear or night wear something we love to wear when feeling lazy or just around the house.  The good thing is that, when High Waist trend came out, high waisted pants and skirts look awesome match with a simple top, which in most cases Sandos.  Then the Sando trend was born.

Although, it is highly recommended that you match sando on a high waist skirt than pants.  As it looks awesome with dresses and skirts but as great on pants.  For some reason, the high waist pants with wide bottom looks better than narrow ones.

Inspiration?

Anyway, all this stuff got me inspired after I saw “The Bounty Hunter” and witness how gorgeous Jennifer Aniston plus the fact that I like the outfit she’s wearing in the movie!  Ok, it’s not that it clicked to me right there and then but  few weeks after, I saw some Hilary Duff’s movie.  I forgot the title, it is some under cover fashion magazine assignment for her big break and her boss is wearing a white sleeveless top and red high waist skirt match with a plain black leather belt, then that made me notice the trend.

Tried it on ( I wore black sando and high waist black skirt dyed with navy blue), and wallah! I don’t wanna say how it is, but I love it!!!  There you go, all fashionistas out there! you can try it yourself!  I’m not a dressy girl but I love wearing this trend… Hmmm, wearing this skirt is not that bad, maybe I’ll be wearing skirts and dresses more often! Why not hey?! lol.
