Destination Philippines

Philippines has 7,107 islands rich with natural resources and perfect tourist destinations. From rain forests, beaches, waterfalls, island hopping in Hundred Islands (where 100 islets are too close that you can swim to get to the other). With popular destinations like Boracay, Hundred Islands, Palawan, Vigan, Taal Volcano in Tagaytay, Baguio City, Banaue Rice Terraces, Hanging Coffins in Sagada (a mystical experience), Puerto Galera, Subic Bay and a lot more, I can’t really list all the fun things to do and places to see in the Philippines.

Our common public transportation like Metro Rail Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Jeepney, e-Jeepney, taxis, tricycles, and buses will be your helpful budget means get around the country. Solo travel is just beginning to be popular locally which means we can hope for more transport business to cater for independent budget travelers. Unlike the neighboring countries like Thailand and Vietnam who have mastered the budget traveling with their, open tour night buses, and full serviced tour bus (I meant, full attendant service like attendants serving snacks, TV, headphones, pillows and blanket, water bottle, and free meals on a long overnight trips).

Food are available everywhere, fast food joints, cafĂ©, hotels and restaurants, however you want your food. May it be a fancy service, street food, or convenience store kind of food. Street vendors are everywhere if you are willing to take it to the extreme food adventure like eating ‘Balut’(steamed Duck’s egg), ‘kwek-kwek’(quail eggs), and street barbecue.

(Hundred Islands)

Locals speak Tagalog, and English is widely used everywhere(Filipinos are generally shy when talking to Westerners, so you may find some that would rather hide or smile). Philippines is one of the highest number of English speaking people in Southeast Asia (English is the second language).

We will start traveling Philippines from the capital city Manila on my following posts. So enjoy and absorb the beauty of the Philippines through the eyes of a discount travel blogger!
