I have been traveling for a while now, whether it is because of my work, just a holiday, or escaping the hustle and bustle of the crazy city life, there is no way I would ever get over of traveling. Every travel I make, I noticed the difference of travelers. I know that because I, myself was once a different traveler than I am now.
Traveler Divided into Two Categories
First of all, what is the difference between the two? I meant, between a Tourist and a Traveler? I must say, that a Tourist is someone whose travels are within a short period of time that always want to keep going and see places fitting all the activities in their schedule due to certain reasons they have, may it be scarce of time, comfort level, or travel style. Traveler on the other hand, is someone who travels around the places exploring every bit of it, taking his time to know more about the culture, people, and tradition. The one that has no time restrictions which often falls to the name, Backpacker (if on a budget).
A Backpacker usually carry a backpack(which obviously how they got the name) everywhere he goes because it is more convenient traveling some humble areas that are lacking of certain things we enjoy in the city (like good roads). They travel on a budget because they always prefer to stay longer, live with the people and learn more about them and the place. Going from one place to another after knowing and living with it for sometime.
Now, what do you reckon is the best type of an explorer? A Tourist or a Traveler? In my opinion, I would say a Traveler. It is the one that travels and see places whatever reasons he may have.

For some reason, majority of the people can only be a tourist because they have obligations back to their home and work that leaves them to maximize the time limit they have for traveling, it therefore means splurging and speeding on their journey. Although the downside of it is that traveling this way will not make them truly understand how it truly is in the place they are visiting, the deeper aspect of traveling and exploring of the culture. How people live their lives, how they are, and who they are. Tourists will just always remember the monumental places caught on their cameras but not the values of the people and the place.
Meanwhile, backpackers are taking their time to know all these aspects of the places they are visiting. Learning the language, befriending locals, living like a local, exploring off the beaten tracks, and becoming one with the locals. These travelers experience, real life.
