I am just browsing my Facebook right now and saw a friend’s wall post about a video with the title “Sh*t Brides Say”, curious enough I watched the video and it was freakin’ funny! It’s true though, from the movies, girlfriends, acquaintances that somehow I get to crossed paths with before their wedding day have said at least one from what they have mentioned in the video.

I think it’s because of the excitement, the adrenaline rush of living like a princess for a day. I don’t know, I don’t get it (well, maybe because I haven’t been engaged), I don’t get all the extravagant preparations for a marriage. I always dreamed of getting married one day too, walking in the isle with a long white wedding dress staring at my prince waiting for me at the altar kind of crap! That’s what I get watching fairytales as a kid, but then growing up and going in and out of relationships (whether it be platonic or not), it does not have a happy ending like the fairytales suggest. I know there are happy endings but its not like a glorified ones like that of fairytale scene which most people think their wedding is the closest to that reality.

Oops sorry I’m rambling about wedding and marriage like I know something from it. What I’m saying is that, what matters most is what you feel and not what you make other want to feel seeing you in that expensive gown and eating your best catered food. It’s just another day for them, but for you two who will get married, that is a big change in your life.

Okay, so I will try to understand how excited brides can be when they got engaged. If I will be engaged with someone I love the most then I would be really happy, I wouldn’t care if how, when, or where we will get married (I’m not even sure what would I feel at that moment, there’s no guarantee yeah?) and I wanted a clothing will be tailored to fit me and me trying to fit into that clothing. See, that happens when they spend too much on something not worth spending at. Anyways, I just don’t get it that’s why I find this video hilarious.

I owe my friend, Mishale, for not showing up at the last Philippine Fashion Week event held at the SMX Convention Center. I could have shared wonderful photos from the event, but anyway, there’s always next time right? (Although Mishale would not want to set it up for me anymore).

What I didn’t know is that Philippine Fashion Week has its own TV production now handled by Runway Productions which is on its Season 4 now.  Yes, on its 4th season and I did not know until I got an email from them promoting the season! Sheez!  Oh well, what can I do,  I’m quite busy with my travel blog   lately and of course, juggling work and travel.

I am impressed how the Philippine Fashion Week has evolved, I didn’t expect they would go this far but I’m proud of where they are and what they have done.  It’s like the talents can compete Internationally but its locally produced.  I should not be surprised, because Filipino talents are truly world class, why not? There’s Monique Lhuillier, Rafe Totengco, Michael Cinco, Donny Barrios, and a lot more talents that are making names in the industry.

As for the awesome runway show of all time, fashion week will always be cherished by the metro’s fashionistas and for that, I know the Philippine Fashion Week will be bigger than it is now.  Keep it up fashionistas behind the success of Philippine Fashion Week! Kudos to all your efforts, it’s bearing fruits, no worries!  Catch them every Sunday, 6:30PM at Lifestyle Network!

I stumble upon a cool blog of two fashionistas whose main goal was to travel around Southeast Asia with style, probably thinking then ‘what the hell are these backpackers wearing?’ just like what I did.  Then embarking into the backpacking scene trying to prove something about looking good while travelling, I think that would only last for few weeks and that goes for everye who will attempt to do the same.

Lois and Chichi, the sole sisters who admitted how backpacking can really change you.  Now, they are self proclaimed Poorpackers from their previous claim, Glampackers.  It’s no joke, you get the real zest of life going around countries you are not even familiar with.  It changes not only your fashion taste, but you as a person will definitely change too.  The fear of losing your way, running out of money, talking to strangers…  All of them, suddenly out of the vocabulary to survive(oh its not that bad, I should say, to live by…).

Then a sudden change, turn, from being afraid to bold in looking for ways to make things happen.  You start using your common sense and you realize that you can just live with things on your back (backpack) as quoted by my good friend Nicko.  I’m so proud with these girls finding their way out of that egotistic world of glamour.  Believe me, it’s totally different world out there and its more fun than just wearing uncomfortable stilettos (it’s such a humbling experience).  You learn a lot from the experience and from people you meet (I learn something from these two as well), so why not make your learning more interesting? Move around, and let’s backpack around the world!

I have been a little slack writing, updating, or doing some work on this blog (I know, I’m guilty!) due to a lot of reasons but in short, I’m busy.  First, I was busy looking for a job while travelling around Southeast Asia which made me a little busy to write about my travel escapades on my travel blog.  When the backpacking adventure ended I became a little occupied touring friends around coming over to visit, and after that, I went looking for a job (for god sake, I needed a job after that touring around got me really broke!) and of course, I finally got a job.

So you’re wondering why I’m back?  Because, I resigned! Oh well, long story…but it’s not really important to you anyway.  The good thing is that I’m back putting some work on my blogs now specially here.  I started working today, and what I want to do first? is to get rid of my Twitter non-followers that I’m following.  Why?  It’s just a waste of time, this is business and if I’m not getting anything in return here then what’s the point yeah?

I’m telling you this because I want to share how following your followers work wonders in your blogs.  For those who aren’t following me for a long time I am following you and wasn’t doing anything about it, it’s all done and over.  It’s time to un-follow you now.  What? I have more than 3,000 people I’m following who are not even following me so I’ll start following people who are following me instead.  You want to have cool reasons to un-follow or defollow Twitter followers that’s not following you? I have three.

With the help of this amazing Manage Flitter FREE application I saw online, it was easy to do it.  It’s program is user friendly too! All you have to do it drag and click un-follow and you can delete 100 twitters at a time. Awesome, isn’t it? It is.

Philippine Fashion Week for Spring and Summer this year is on!  Yes, I just received the notification from the organizers that the fashion fun starts today, October 23,2011.  A week of fashion activities showcasing Filipino designers and brands that are making name in the local fashion industry.  It should be fun, although I know I could not attend any of them this season again due to my hectic personal and corporate schedule.  However, that would not stop me to inform you that the premiere begins today at 6:30PM at SMX Convention Center with Human, Bench, and Kashieca to flaunt what they have on the runway.  Other day schedule listed below;

After a long time wearing my hair long (not really, it just took me a long time to wait for it to grow longer) I’m beginning to get bored with having it straight, long and dark.  Just like wearing it too short back then (that I went cutting it short over and over again) I have to let it grow for a change and now that I got it long and been wearing it for two years now, I am looking for another change.  What can I do? I’m a Gemini, I easily get bored with routine!

I know I had a great multi-colored highlights back in Singapore from Essensuals Hair Salon (Toni&Guy) [Thanks for Rick and Eugenie for the free highlights!]but it’s faded now.  However, since I worked with these people, I am now inspired to get some healthy curls (afro-like) or color it blonde, or both!  I saw a model before with the same facial bone structure like mine and she looks cool with the afro.  I know it will be a big change and I’m still psyching myself to be ready and take that leap for a big hairstyle change.

With that thought in my head still left undecided, it is quite bugging me lately.  Just tonight, I asked the help of a virtual hairstyle mixer to see myself with that hairstyle(if that would suit me).  It looks great on photos and the result of that application, but the thing is…  Would it look the same in actual outcome?  Here’s the results, let me know what do you think looks better.

If you love to shop until you drop, then you should read this.  Singapore is such a great place to shop, may it be for your electronic gadgets, branded and signature clothing, or budget shopping this is your paradise!  I know we do have a shopping paradise here too like Divisoria (for budget ones) and the malls, however, there are limited shops here though.

Unlike Singapore, they catered to all the budget range shopping spree.  They have Bugis Street as the budget and popular shopping area (specially for the younger ones who have limited budget),  There’s Orchard Central for the for your favorite boutiques like Guess, Gucci, Versace, Ferragamo, or the casual brands such as Zara, Forever 21, Top Shop, and I heard that H&M will soon open in Singapore too!

Marina Bay Sands Shopping Center is also one great place for splurging  if you think Bugis and OC or Somerset won’t make you drop.  Vivo City is the place for your gadgets (specially during the expo, take advantage of it!) that can be cheaper than Philippines if you’re there in a lucky time.  Although, I should remind you that do not forget Chinatown for the cheap buys and great souvenir shops, as well as Little India’s perfume center (that’s where you get the cheapest) and some tiny streets have little boutiques of great buys too.

Do not worry on how to get from one place to another, the subway is the most friendliest transportation yo get you to all of these shopping destination or just flag a taxi.  I don’t recommend bus because its confusing, in my 3 months of stay in Singapore its on my last week when I learned how to ride it (their station boards are confusing), that’s all.

People keeps noticing my style and tagging me as a Boho Chic , one friend even  said  I have a Sienna Miller style that way, but honestly I used to just wear what I feel like wearing whatever genre my mood swings bring me.  Although, I’m always a fan of good earth prints and colors, not to mention my fondness in ethnic accessories no matter  where I get it (although I’m into cheap buys), I didn’t care until more and more people are commenting about  my style.

I love boho! I should admit.  I love the fact that this style is so laid back, not so high maintenance, colorful, and fun. It was the accessories who started it, so my accessories will get all the credits and blame for this.  However, I think it goes on and on ( I mean, the influence of boho) and now enjoying every styles that only bohemian, indie, or ethnic style can accommodate even on the hairstyle!

3 Bohemian Styles You Can Wear Everyday

Yes, I love just having my long black hair  grow longer and longer without putting much effort on it to be neatly tied as I always do in my college days. I am already thinking of getting a great afro curls.  Okay, enough for that I think you deserve to know more about the coolest Bohemian Hairstyle you can have on your cool long hair.

Braids – Braids are always part of the main boho style.  It’s either you braid all your hair, or just  the  side to loop it like a headband (my favorite), or get two tiny braids and tie it at the back which is the most common and easiest braids to do.  Whatever it is, I love the effect!

Headpiece-  If you’re not a fan of braids because you don’t want the curly after effect of it, you can resort to the help of a headpiece or boho headband that gives out the same effect with having your hair braided.  This is also such a stylish look.

Bandanna- Bandanna is the queen of bohemian head piece/ accessory.  It projects a very strong ethnic image and a little hard to pull it off than the other boho hair effect.  Most of the time, this is wore with other accessories to give it a softer or to balance the image.

Watching Jennifer Lopez’s “I’m Into You” video was great, not only that the song is groovy and cool but also her boho style is on!  I’m always been a fan of her fashion style and music, it’s no surprise why the former husband made a big deal out of this video (that was rumored to be the cause of the break up), she was really hot on this video!  Don’t forget the leading man on this video on that last compliment I gave her, he too is!

The fabric prints already show off the ethnicity but adding more colors to it the accessories made a good job, my favorite was the bandanna!  Hard to pull that off, but not to my surprise Jennifer Lopez can pull off almost everything I think. She’s an icon.

In this day and age, make up is already part of everyday women’s lives and using it in every purpose it serves them like confidence booster, covering flaws, enhancing features, art, and all. What is my point here? This is really not a debate on whether or not women should wear make up but rather empowering confidence that wearing it or not, they will still have confidence.

Why is Being Natural Important?

Irritation/Allergies. Lucky if you don’t have allergies to make up, although wearing them everyday may irritate your skin because of the chemicals used in making make ups. What about the organic make up? You might ask. Yes, there are organic make ups out there that could help you solve this problem but you may want to read what’s next.

Loosing Your Natural Self. What do I mean by that? We were born natural, without anything at all but ourselves. Growing up we find imperfections that we cover by all means and make up is one of that tool, but we lose our natural self that way. Do you know someone who wears make up everyday and suddenly you see them without it and thought she doesn’t look the person you know? What happens is that she became associated with her make up that having without seems like incomplete. By that, she loses her natural self and people may not appreciate her natural beauty anymore.

Imperfections Are Normal. We all have our share of imperfections that we try to hide, however, embracing our imperfections than hiding it is the best way to deal with it. We don’t need to spend money to cover up something we know we can’t hide, or even if we can, that is not accepting our flaws (and if we don’t, who will?). I think it is just on the way we perceive things, so thinking positive will surely be a lot of help.

Save Time/Money. If you use less make up or any props you use for covering something then you save money buying it and save time by applying or wearing it. Save time worrying about it but rather be more productive in other areas of your strength and none will notice it. People notice it just because you notice it a lot, ignore it and they will soon too.

Isn’t it cool when you don’t have to hide anything at all? Let them see it no matter how bad it is, it’s all natural and benefits of living naturally is less worry, more positive energy.
